What we ask for, and why

What we collect

Only what you type into the application form on this site. That is:

• Your son’s first and last name, date of birth, school grade, and the name of his school.
• Your home address.
• Medical conditions and allergies — both optional, and only if you choose to tell us.
• A contact email, plus the parent or guardian’s full name, email, and mobile number.
• His jersey size.
• A photo of him, if you choose to add one — on the form, or later from the link we email you.
• Your agreement to the league rules and waiver, the name you type as a signature, and the date you sign.

That is the whole list. We do not ask for a social security number or payment details — no card is ever entered on this website.

Why we need it

• To place your son. Age, grade, and what coaches see on the court decide which of the 3 groups he trains with.
• To reach you. Email and phone are how we confirm his application, tell you he’s accepted, and let you know if a Sunday changes.
• To keep him safe. Medical notes and allergies mean a coach isn’t guessing in an emergency, and your number is the first one called.
• To know who’s who. A photo lets coaches put a face to your son’s name on the court and at check-in.
• To order a jersey that fits.
• To keep a record. The waiver you agree to is only meaningful if we can show what you agreed to and when.

Who sees it

The person who runs BBLNYC, and the coaches who need a specific piece of it to do their job on a Sunday. Nobody else. The applications live behind a password that only the league organizer has.

Two suppliers necessarily handle the data in passing: the company that hosts this website and its database, and the service that delivers our email. They process it to run the site and send those messages, and for nothing else.

What we never do

• We never sell, rent, or trade your data.
• We never share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• We never use it for marketing unrelated to the league.
• We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers on this site. The application form is not tracked, and neither is the rest of the site. Our host keeps ordinary server logs, which we do not use to build a profile of anyone.

How long we keep it

Applications stay in our records for as long as we run the league, because the signed waiver is part of the record of a season your son played. If you would rather we didn’t hold your family’s information, email us. We will remove it and tell you plainly if there is anything we have kept and why.

Your son’s application photo

The photo you add to an application is never published — not on this site, not on Instagram, not anywhere. It exists so coaches can recognize your son, and only the league organizer and the coaches see it.

Before it is stored we shrink it and strip out the hidden details phones attach to photos, including the location where it was taken. Sending a new photo from your link replaces the old one. It is deleted along with the rest of your application, and you can ask us to delete just the photo at any time.

Photos on this site

The photographs here and on Instagram were taken at BBLNYC sessions. We never publish a child’s name alongside a picture, and we don’t tag children.

If your family appears in a photo you would rather we didn’t publish, email BBLNYC@yahoo.com with a short description of the photo — or the page it’s on — and we will take it down. You do not have to explain why.

Children’s information

The application is written for a parent or guardian to complete. We do not ask children for information directly, and there is no account, login, comment box, or message board on this site that a child could use.

Changes to this policy

If what we do with your information changes, we change this page and move the date at the top. It reads 10 October 2026 today.
