Not sure he’s ready?
If he can run the floor and wants to learn, he’s ready. Beginners are not an afterthought here — one of the 3 groups exists precisely for players still learning the game.
Still unsure? Write to us and describe him. We’ll tell you honestly whether this is a fit.
A typical Sunday
75 minutes, start to finish
Same court, same coaches, same shape every week. Boys know what is coming, which is exactly why they get better.
Check in
Sneakers on, water down, find your group. The coaches take it from there.
Warm up and work
Ball handling, shooting, defense, spacing. The fundamentals, drilled properly, every single week.
Play the game
League games with something on the line. Effort is expected, sportsmanship is enforced, and the season ends with trophies.
Cost
What it costs
Pricing changes from season to season, so we don’t print a number that might be wrong by the time you read it.

Applying costs nothing. No payment is collected on this website, and no card details are ever entered here.
How enrolling works
Three steps, in order
A person reads every application. There is no waitlist algorithm and no automated reply.
You apply
The application takes a few minutes and costs nothing. No payment is taken on this site, ever.
We review
We read every application and reply by email. Applying does not reserve a spot — acceptance does.
We arrange payment
Once your son is accepted, we settle payment with you directly, offline. All payments are final.
Come prepared
What every player needs
Short list. It is the same list the coaches enforce in the gym, and you’ll see the full rules in writing when you apply.
Basketball sneakers
Proper basketball sneakers, laced, on his feet the whole session. No other footwear on the court.
A shirt, always
Shirts and sneakers stay on for the full 75 minutes. We hand out pinnies for teams.
Water. Only water
Water is the one thing allowed in the gym. No food, no sports drinks, no exceptions.
Nothing valuable
Leave phones, jewelry, and cash at home. BBL NYC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Respect on and off the court
Teammates, opponents, coaches, officials. Profanity, fighting, and unsportsmanlike conduct end a player’s day.
The staff
Who’s on the floor
The coaches run every session themselves. They know the boys by name, they teach fundamentals properly, and they hold the gym to one standard, week after week.

Questions
What parents ask us
If your question isn’t here, email BBLNYC@yahoo.com. We answer every message.
How are the groups decided?
Coaches watch how each player moves, handles the ball, and competes, then place him in one of 3 groups. A strong fourth grader can end up training above his grade; a beginner in eighth grade gets taught from the ground up.
Most boys stay in the group they start in. If a change is needed, we make it and work with your family on the details.
What if we miss a Sunday?
It happens, and it is not a problem — tell us if you can, and your son picks up where the group is the following week.
One thing to be straight about: refunds are not issued for sessions a player misses, or for sessions canceled for reasons outside our control. When a session is canceled, we reschedule it if the gym and the calendar allow.
What does he need to bring?
Basketball sneakers and a water bottle. We supply the balls and the pinnies. Leave valuables at home.
Is there a tryout?
No. There is no tryout and nobody gets cut. Every accepted player gets a group, a coach, and game time. The first sessions are how coaches learn where each player fits.
How do we pay?
After we accept your application. We contact you and arrange payment directly — offline, not through this website. Applying costs nothing and no card details are ever collected here. Email BBLNYC@yahoo.com for current session pricing.
What if the season is already full?
The home page says so plainly when it is, and the application closes. Email us anyway — we will tell you when the next season opens, and @bbl.nyc gets the announcement first.
Next step
Seen enough? Put him on the floor.
Applying takes a few minutes, costs nothing, and does not reserve a spot on its own. We review every application and reply by email.
